The Goldfields region offers a diverse range of fishing opportunities in its many superb waterways.

There are over a thousand private and public trout lakes in the greater Ballarat area, and all produce brown and rainbow trout – some weighing in at up to six kilograms. Public lakes such as the Upper Coliban, Lauriston, Tullaroop, Cairn Curran, Malmsbury, Andersons, (Hepburn), Newlyn and Harcourt are popular choices with trout anglers.

For wading you might consider Newlyn, Dean & Moorabool Reservoirs, Hepburn lagoon. Or if you want to stay close to a heart warming hot toddy - St Georges lake in Creswick - just a hop, skip and jump to a warm fireplace

Boat and shore fishing is possible at Lake Wendouree, Tullaroop & Cairn Curran Reservoirs and Lake Burrumbeet you might also consider.

I will advise if anyone is taking a boat - you mght want to passenger with them for a session or two and do a little boat fishing
